This lake is also considered a turquoise ear string dropped by a goddess to the mortal world. Standing at the top of Gangbala Mountain at an altitude of 4,950 meters and looking south, Yamdrok Lake is like a sapphire set among the peaks, with smooth blue water like a mirror, reflecting the bright blue sky. [Xiazhulin Monastery] Compared to other popular ancient monasteries, this Xiazhulin Monastery, which offers a panoramic bird's-eye view of the Yarlung Tsangpo, is very quiet. The monastery is most famous for enshrining the flesh body of Palden Lhamo. It is said that she passed away a thousand years ago at the age of twelve. After her death, her body naturally shrank to only one cubit high, in the sitting posture of Tara, with one eye even slightly open, as if half asleep and half awake. Legend has it that she is the true incarnation of Green Tara manifesting as Palden Lhamo, and was later enshrined in this temple.
