Pickup at Lhasa Railway Station or Airport
Welcome to Lhasa (altitude 3,650 meters), the holy city of the snowy plateau. Our driver will meet you outside Lhasa Railway Station (or the airport) and take you to your hotel for check-in. After checking in that day, it is recommended not to wash your hair or take a bath, to reduce activity, slow everything down, and relax so that you can adapt to the high-altitude environment as quickly as possible. Lhasa Railway Station is located in the suburbs of Lhasa, about 8 kilometers from the Potala Palace. Along the way you will cross the Lhasa River, and from the vehicle you can enjoy the scenery on both banks of the Lhasa River. Lhasa Airport is located in Gonggar County of Shannan City, about 60 kilometers from downtown Lhasa. The drive takes about 1 hour, and along the way you can enjoy distinctive Tibetan villages and pastoral scenery.

Potala Palace-Jokhang Temple-Barkhor Street
In the morning, you will visit the [Potala Palace], the world's highest ancient palace-fortress complex. Climbing up the long staircase step by step, you can overlook Lhasa along the way, taking in the grandeur of the city at a glance. While taking photos and resting, you will then enter the Potala Palace with a professional guide to explore this mysterious and ancient palace that is rarely shown in pictures online. In the afternoon, you will visit the [Jokhang Temple], the holy site in the hearts of Tibetan Buddhist believers. The Jokhang Temple houses a life-size statue of Shakyamuni at age 12, which was brought from Kathmandu by Princess Bhrikuti of Nepal, whom the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo married at the time. After visiting the Jokhang Temple, you can go to the handicraft market on [Barkhor Street] to carefully select souvenirs, or wander aimlessly and find a sweet tea house, sit by the window, and enjoy tea and daydreaming at ease. The sunlight of Lhasa pours down from the transparent blue sky, enough to clear away all tedious and negative emotions. Friendly reminder—Potala Palace tickets are pre-purchased with fixed visiting times. We will flexibly adjust the itinerary according to the actual reserved visiting time. Entering the Potala Palace requires a security check; dangerous items are strictly prohibited, and photography is not allowed inside the Potala Palace.

Lhasa-Qushui-Gangbala Snow Mountain-Yamdrok Lake-Gyantse-Shigatse
In the morning, you will depart from Lhasa, follow National Highway 318 to the bridge junction, and travel along the scenery of the Yarlung Tsangpo River to Gambala Pass (elevation 4,990 meters). This is the perfect spot to overlook [Yamdrok Lake] (elevation 4,441 meters), one of the "Three Great Sacred Lakes of Tibet." From the Tibetan-style viewing platform adorned with fluttering colorful prayer flags and a huge mani pile, you can gaze at the clear, calm lake surface under the sunlight shifting through varying shades of light blue, deep blue, and sky blue, reflecting the washed-clean blue sky, with majestic snow-capped mountains in the distance—an ultimate beauty unrivaled in southern Tibet. If you are lucky, you may even witness a spectacular scene with dark clouds on one side, a brilliant rainbow on the other, and endless rosy clouds elsewhere. After lunch at Nagarze, you will continue by vehicle to visit [Karo-la Glacier] (elevation 5,000 meters). Standing right by the roadside, the glacier is like a giant thangka hanging on the mountain wall, crystal clear and pure white, so close it feels as if you could touch it. Next, you will proceed to the ancient city of Gyantse, hometown of anti-British heroes. This city with over 600 years of history was also a key transportation hub from Front Tibet to Rear Tibet. You will view the Gyantse Dzong anti-British site from afar and visit [Pelkor Chode Monastery], the only monastery in Tibet that combines the three major sects, featuring stunning murals and carvings and the Hundred Thousand Buddha Pagoda. Finally, you will arrive at Shigatse, the capital of Rear Tibet, for check-in.

Shigatse-Dingjie Wetland-Qilin Gorge-Tingri-Mount Everest Base Camp
In the early morning, you will depart from Shigatse for the Everest Base Camp. First, you will visit the Qilin Gorge scenic area. The gorge is about 200 meters deep and is a peculiar karst landform formed over tens of millions of years by the scouring and cutting of glacial meltwater. It is a stone forest landform about 15 kilometers long, 500 meters wide, and about 200 meters deep. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the originally flat ground suddenly breaks apart, and within the huge trench are towering sandy earth pillars arranged in groups, each with a different pose, spectacular and wondrous. After the visit, you will head to the Everest Base Camp via Tingri, passing through the Gyawu La Pass, where you can see the spectacular sight of four snow-capped mountains over 8,000 meters above sea level lined up in a row. From left to right, these four peaks are: Makalu (8,463 meters); Lhotse (8,516 meters); Mount Everest (8,848 meters); and Cho Oyu (8,201 meters). Then take the eco-friendly bus to the Everest Base Camp to experience the grandeur of nature. If you are lucky, you may also see the Everest banner cloud drifting like a flame of life. Overnight at the Everest Base Camp, where you can see up close the majestic posture of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. Tip: The road from Shigatse to Everest is a newly paved asphalt road with good conditions, including winding mountain sections, so please bring motion sickness medicine. For over five hundred years, it has attracted numerous Buddhist believers and visitors from home and abroad to pay homage and admire. Traveling on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, you will cross the 5,190-meter Nagela Pass and arrive at [Namtso], the "Heavenly Lake," first among Tibet's three great sacred lakes. At an elevation of 4,718 meters, it is the world's highest-altitude saltwater lake and China's second-largest. To the south lies the year-round snow-capped Nyainqentanglha Mountains, while the north and west sides feature highland hills. The broad lakeshore is surrounded by grasslands with abundant water and lush grass. The lake water has high salinity, and the basin is rich in wildlife including yaks and goats. The lake is home to many wild birds and produces scale-less and scaly fish. The clear lake water reflects the surrounding snow-capped mountains, creating a beautiful scene like a sparkling pearl set upon the vast Qiangtang grasslands. After enjoying a simple local meal at your own expense, you will return to Lhasa along the same route. Tip: The driving time today is relatively long and tiring, requiring an early start.
