Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Karola Glacier - Shigatse
After breakfast, you will set off from Lhasa, cross the 4,990-meter Gambala Snow Mountain, gaze at the Gambala Radar Station from afar, and follow the old road to 【Yamdrok Lake】, the world's highest freshwater lake, known as the holy lake in the sky. Yamdrok Lake, meaning "Jade Lake" in Tibetan, is a freshwater lake and one of Tibet's three great sacred lakes. The water is as clear as mutton fat, sweet, and drinkable. The deep blue lake merges with the distant snow mountains, and with the colorful mountains on both banks, distinctive Tibetan villages, and herds of cattle and sheep everywhere, the journey is thoroughly refreshing.
After lunch in Nagarze County, continue to 【Karo La Glacier】, which hangs on the mountain wall. Its ice tongue has extended to the roadside, so from the highway you can see the snow-white glacier like a giant thangka, delivering a powerful visual impact. Karo La Glacier is also one of Tibet's three great glaciers and can be viewed up close, earning it the name of the most accessible glacier. As a result, many famous films, such as Red River Valley, The Battle of Gyantse, and The Knot, shot exterior scenes here, making Karo La Glacier even more famous.
Finally, arrive in Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city, and check into your hotel for rest.
