Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Karola Glacier - Gyantse - Shigatse
In the morning, you will depart from Lhasa, cross the 4,990-meter-high Gambala Snow Mountain, gaze at the Gambala Radar Station from afar, and follow the old road to [Yamdrok Lake], the highest freshwater lake in the world and known as the holy lake in heaven. Yamdrok Lake, in Tibetan, means "Jade Lake." The lake water is as clear as mutton fat and sweet enough to drink. The deep blue lake merges with the distant snow mountains, and together with the varied mountain ranges on both banks, the highly distinctive Tibetan villages, and the livestock everywhere, the journey is refreshing and delightful.
After lunch in Nagarze County, you will continue to [Karo La Glacier], hanging on the mountain wall. The ice tongue of Karo La Glacier has already extended to the road surface, so by the roadside you can see the snow-white glacier like a giant thangka, creating a powerful visual impact. Then continue all the way to Gyantse, the town of anti-British heroes. This is an ancient city with a history of more than 600 years and also a transportation stronghold from U-Tsang to Tsang. Here you can gaze at the [Gyantse Dzong Anti-British Site] from afar and visit [Pelkor Chode Monastery], the only one that integrates Tibet's three major sects and is known for its exquisite murals and carvings, the Hundred Thousand Buddha Stupa. Then drive to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city. Exquisite murals and carvings, the Hundred Thousand Buddha Stupa [Pelkor Chode Monastery]. Then drive to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city.
