D1
Pickup at Lhasa Railway Station or Airport
Welcome to Lhasa, the holy city on the snowy plateau (elevation 3,650 meters). Our driver will greet you outside Lhasa Railway Station (or the airport) and take you to your hotel for check-in. After checking in that day, it is recommended not to wash your hair or take a shower, to reduce activity, slow everything down, and relax so you can adapt to the high-altitude environment as quickly as possible. Lhasa Railway Station is located in the suburbs of Lhasa, about 8 kilometers from the Potala Palace. The route crosses the Lhasa River, and you can enjoy the scenery on both banks from the vehicle. Lhasa Airport is located in Gonggar County of Shannan City, about 60 kilometers from downtown Lhasa. The drive takes about 1 hour, and along the way you can enjoy distinctive Tibetan villages and pastoral scenery.

Potala Palace - Jokhang Temple - Barkhor Street
In the morning, you will visit the world's highest ancient palace-style architectural complex, the [Potala Palace]. Climb up the long stairs step by step while overlooking Lhasa, taking in the grandeur of the city. Take photos and rest along the way, then enter the Potala Palace with a professional guide to explore this mysterious ancient palace that is rarely shown in pictures online. In the afternoon, you will visit [Jokhang Temple], the holy site in the hearts of Tibetan Buddhist believers. The Jokhang Temple enshrines the 12-year-old life-size statue of Shakyamuni, which was brought from Kathmandu by Princess Bhrikuti of Nepal, whom the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo married at the time. After visiting the Jokhang Temple, you can go to the handicraft market on [Barkhor Street] to pick out souvenirs, or wander aimlessly and find a sweet tea house, sit by the window, enjoy tea and daydream at ease. Lhasa's sunlight pours down from the transparent blue sky, enough to clear away all troublesome and negative emotions. Friendly reminder — Potala Palace tickets use a pre-purchase system and have fixed visiting times. We will flexibly adjust the itinerary according to the actual reserved visiting time. Entering the Potala Palace requires passing through a security check; dangerous items are strictly prohibited, and photography is not allowed inside the Potala Palace.

Lhasa - Niyang River - Basum Lake - Nyingchi
After breakfast, you will drive past Maizhokunggar to Nyingchi, known as the "Jiuzhaigou of Tibet and Little Switzerland" and the "Jiangnan of Tibet." Traveling east along the Nyang River, you will pass the birthplace of Songtsen Gampo, the 【Middle Stream Pillar】, and feel the joy and relaxation brought by the green mountains and clear waters of the Jiangnan of Tibet. After lunch, you will visit the holy lake of the Red Sect, 【Basum Lake】. Shaped like a crescent moon inlaid in a high mountain valley, the lake is so clear that you can see the bottom, with snow mountains reflected in the water, creating a truly enchanting scene that brings you back to "Shangri-La" and leaves you intoxicated. In the lake there is a small island, and on the island stands a temple built at the end of the Tang Dynasty—Cuozong Gongba Temple. The main hall enshrines Padmasambhava, Thousand-Hand Guanyin, and the Golden Boy and Jade Girl. Snow peaks, glaciers, primeval forests, and ancient relics tightly surround Basum Lake. At sunset, the summit of the snow mountain turns red while the base remains a deep blue-black, and the silhouettes of trees near the lake float on the water. The lake is a serene blue, making this place seem like a fairyland on earth. After the visit, you will drive to Nyingchi city for overnight stay.

Nyingchi - Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon - Namcha Barwa
After breakfast, you will set off from Nyingchi and drive to the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, the largest and deepest canyon in the world. At Pai Town, take the scenic-area shuttle bus to Zhibai. At the canyon entrance, you will see the ruins of the Daduka ancient fortress, the Qingly Rock that displays the wondrous power of love, the 1,450-year-old great mulberry tree, and the Demon's Heart Rock. Arriving at the grand canyon viewing platform, you can touch at close range Namcha Barwa, the foremost of China's ten most famous mountains, which was named one of the most beautiful peaks by National Geographic magazine. Stand by the banks of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, watch the surging waters, listen to the roar of the canyon, and take in the world-famous Great Bends No. 1 and No. 2 of the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Along the way, enjoy canyon, forest, stream, snow mountain, lake, and pastoral scenery, returning to Nyingchi amid scenery like a painting and a mood like poetry. Tip: On the vehicle tour of the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, you can enjoy the canyon scenery while dining in the scenic area.

Nyingchi - Khading Gully - Tibetan Folk Village - Lhasa
After breakfast, you will visit 【Kading Valley】. Kading Valley, also known as Gading Valley, features steep mountains towering into the clouds and is a typical canyon landscape, with grotesque peaks, strange rocks, and ancient towering trees. A waterfall with a drop of nearly 200 meters plunges down magnificently. On the cliffs, natural formations resemble a great Buddha, a goddess, Guanyin, a Dharma protector, Tathagata Buddha, a lama chanting scriptures, a divine turtle calling to the sky, a divine eagle offering treasure, and butter lamps, as well as the Tibetan "Six-Character Mantra" Buddhist characters. The fresh, natural oxygen bar will leave you endlessly enchanted. Afterward, you will visit a Tibetan village to take part in a folk village activity distinctive to Tibetan compatriots (tasting butter tea, eating snacks, and learning about their daily life and diet) to experience Tibetan culture. Then return to Lhasa, enjoying the scenery along the Niyang River on the way, with colorful water birds dotted along the riverbanks, terraced fields, and unique Tibetan villages, painting a picture of the Tibetan Jiangnan and giving a feeling of entering a hidden paradise. In the afternoon, drive back to Lhasa for overnight stay.

Lhasa - Namtso - Lhasa
In the early morning, you will travel by vehicle across the grasslands of northern Tibet. Along the way, colorful prayer flags flutter in the wind as you drive on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, cross the 5,190-meter Nagela Pass, and arrive at [Namtso], the "Heavenly Lake," first among Tibet's three great holy lakes. Namtso is 4,718 meters above sea level and is the highest saltwater lake in the world and the second largest in China. To the south is the year-round snow-capped Nyainqentanglha Range, and to the north and west are plateau hills. The broad lakeshore is surrounded by grasslands with abundant water and lush grass. The lake water has a high salt content, and the basin is rich in wildlife resources, including yaks and goats. The lake has many wild birds and produces scale fish and scaleless fish. The lake water is clear and reflects the surrounding snow mountains, with beautiful scenery, like a sparkling pearl inlaid on the vast Changtang grasslands. After arranging local-style simple meals on your own, return to Lhasa along the same route. Tip: The drive today is relatively long and tiring, so you need to get up early. The northern Tibet area is at a relatively high altitude, so please bring a thick coat, apply sunscreen, and bring sunglasses and a hat.
