They are not only the most magnificent physical remains of Western Xia civilization but also a World Cultural Heritage Site, known as the "Oriental Pyramids." It is worth mentioning that Western Xia once dominated the vital route of the Silk Road and was ultimately destroyed by Mongol cavalry.
