Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Karola Glacier - Shigatse
After breakfast, you will drive to Shigatse, the capital of Tsang, crossing the 4,990-meter Gambala Pass along the way, where you can gaze at the Gambala Radar Station from afar. Afterwards, you will visit Yamdrok Lake, known as the Holy Lake in Heaven. 【Yamdrok Lake】, or Yang Lake for short, means "Lake of Swans" in Tibetan. With a surface elevation of 4,441 meters, it is one of the three great holy lakes of Tibet, and its beauty reigns supreme in southern Tibet. The crystal-clear water, towering snow-capped mountains, and spotless blue sky merge into one, and the picturesque scenery is enough to make anyone linger.
After visiting Yamdrok Lake, you will drive to the Karola Glacier at over 5,000 meters. 【Karola Glacier】, located right beside the road, hangs on the mountain wall like a giant thangka, sparkling and pure white, so close it seems you could reach out and touch it.
Afterwards, you will continue onward, passing through Gyantse County, the real-life filming location of "Red River Valley," where you can view the anti-British invasion site—【Gyantse Dzong】—from afar, and then follow the China-Nepal Highway onward to Shigatse for the night.
