Everest Base Camp - Qilin Gorge - Tashilhunpo Monastery - Shigatse
In the early morning, while the peaks are still sleeping in the dawn, you will face the rising sun and look up at Mount Everest, receiving a baptism of the soul from the world's highest peak, Mount Everest (8,844.43 m). You will admire the holy scene of the world's highest peak, with snow that never melts year-round, hanging glaciers, and towering silver peaks.
On the way back to Shigatse, you will go to the Qilin Gorge scenic area. The canyon is about 200 meters deep and is a peculiar karst landform formed over tens of millions of years by glacial snowmelt erosion and cutting. It is a canyon stone forest landform about 15 km long, 500 meters wide, and about 200 meters deep. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it suddenly breaks open from the originally flat ground. Inside the huge trench are towering sand and earth pillars like a forest, arranged in groups and in countless forms, spectacular and wondrously beautiful.
After the visit, return to Shigatse city and visit the Tsang cultural center, Tashilhunpo Monastery. It is the seat of successive Panchen Lamas. For more than 500 years, it has attracted many Buddhist believers and visitors from home and abroad to worship and view. Inside the monastery, purple smoke rises from incense burners, offering lamps flicker, and the Buddhas have different dignified appearances. In the main hall, monks chant scriptures in orderly fashion, and visiting believers prostrate themselves before the Buddha statues.
